"The Spring Wind Quintet produced a magical evening . . . on rare occasions, all the elements of a performance come together to immerse audience and performers in an almost transcendental musical experience. This was such an occasion . . . delightful quintet just keeps getting better."

– Honolulu Star Bulletin

Hawaii's own SPRING WIND QUINTET, recognized as one of the country's leading woodwind quintets, has been a major force in the development of chamber music in Hawaii. Founded in 1974, the SWQ has been at work for more than a quarter-century bringing chamber music to concert halls, schools, libraries, parks, community centers, and to the airwaves via radio and television throughout Hawaii.

The Spring Wind Quintet has an extensive and varied repertoire, ranging from the standard classics to contemporary, Christmas, pops, and Hawaiian music. Many new works have been composed or arranged especially for the Spring Wind Quintet. The group also offers educational programs for all ages, including youth concerts, band clinics, and college classroom workshops.

In recognition of its contributions to the quality and quantity of chamber music in Hawaii, the Spring Wind Quintet has been the recipient of grants from many Hawaii foundations, including the Hawaii State Foundation on Culture and the Arts, the McInerny Foundation, Cooke Foundation, and Atherton Family Foundation, and also four national foundations, including the National Endowment for the Arts, the Atlantic Richfield Foundation, and the C. Michael Paul Foundation.

The members of the Spring Wind Quintet are also members of the Honolulu Symphony Orchestra.

"Their performance was excellent, and it was a joy to hear them work together. Each shone in solo passages, and instances of outstanding ensemble work were too numerous to mention. Words could not do justice to the effect of such music in any case."

– Honolulu Advertiser

"...they were terrific. It was as delightful as fine wine."
