Galliard String Quartet
Perennial favorites Mozart and Mendelssohn are featured on this season-opening concert. With a little help from Bach, Mozart’s Prelude and Fugue (the fugue borrowed from Bach) will get the season off to an exciting start followed by the elegant Quartet in A major, which includes an incomparable theme and variations movement. To close the evening of “dolci” is Mendelssohn’s String Quartet, Op.13– the work of a young and inspired composer.

Spring
Wind Quintet
The Spring Wind Quintet brings a little spring to the fall season with Spring Wind, a quintet with a local flavor by Hawaii composer Allen Trubitt that was written especially for the SWQ in 1986. Also on the program are quintets by the Romantic composer August Klughart and the “Father of the wind quintet” Anton Reicha.

The Tresemble

Galliard String Quartet
Come and celebrate the music of Eastern Europe. Prokofiev’s vibrant folk melodies will rouse the senses and Smetana’s autobiographical Quartet No.1 in E minor will portray the joys and agonies of the composer’s own life. Beethoven’s “Eyeglass”Duo for viola and cello will also be performed.

Spring Wind Quintet
Bon Voyage to the Spring Winds! Help us give the SWQ a big send-off as they prepare to take their musical aloha to the east coast and Norway.
