Beebe Freitas

A graduate of Oberlin College, Ms. Freitas received her Master's Degree from Boston University and studied at Juilliard where she was Choral Accompanist. She has been accompanist for conductor Leonard Bernstein and has performed with such renowned soloists as Yo-Yo Ma, Edgar Meyer and David Shifrin.

She has been the recipient of honors by the National Society of Arts and Letters, the City and County Commission on Culture and the Arts, and a Living Treasure of Hawaii Award by the Honpa Hongwanji Mission of Hawaii.

Ms. Freitas is on staff at the University of Hawaii Department of Music and has been with Hawaii Opera Theatre since 1966, from 1984-89 as Artistic Director and currently as Associate Artistic Director. She is also the organist at First Presbyterian Church of Honolulu and Punahou Chapel.
